This past July, friends of BuzzFest lost their co-founder and friend Jimmy Music. Just two weeks later, Barbara Richardson lost her life in a car crash. This year will announce the Jimmy Music Scholarship for graduating students of Tulsa Nathan Hale High School class of 2014.
BuzzFest returns to where it all began in 2009 at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. It remained there until 2012 and 2013 when the event moved to Tulsa’s Blue Rose and Elwood’s. The annual event has been successful with plans underway to include a Friday night event starting in 2014.
About BuzzFest
BuzzFest is an annual event for former students of Tulsa Nathan Hale High School, primarily from the mid to late 1970’s and the early 1980’s, their families and friends. After an unexpected turnout of an unnamed event hosted by Jimmy Music and Michael Gibbens, BuzzFest got its name similar to that of the band Lynyrd Skynyrd; a mocking fun tribute to classmate and friend Karen Busby Thomson coming to Oklahoma all the way from Oregon. Friends from all over the United States now attend BuzzFest. In 2014, BuzzFest is establishing the Jimmy Music Scholarship in name of its co-founder. The annual golf tournament has been renamed to the Barbara Richardson Memorial BuzzFest Golf Tournament. BuzzFest continues to grow annually due to the commitment of friendships, committees and corporate sponsorships.
